Beirut Heritage Initiative

An independent and inclusive collective striving to restore Beirut's architectural and cultural Heritage.

Beirut Heritage Initiative (BHI), was launched as an independent and inclusive collective, in favour of restoring the built and cultural heritage of Beirut.

BHI is organised around a team of experts and professionals with complementary skills, such as the Order of Engineers and Architects of Beirut (OEA) and the Beirut Bar Association (BBA), in addition to a number of NGOs specialised in cultural heritage.

BHI is composed of a coordination committee that will ensure the Initiative’s good governance on all technical, financial, administrative and legal aspects. The committee liaises with relevant authorities: a representative from the Lebanese Ministry of Culture, the Directorate General of Antiquities, the General Council of Museums, the Directorate General of Urban Planning (DGU), Beirut’s Governor and Municipality, among other relevant entities.
