With solar panel technology more advanced than ever, solar homes are producing an average of 20-40% more energy than their homes make use of, resulting in billions of kilowatts of excess energy that is sold back to energy companies for resale. Using their new line of state-of-the-art solar paneling products created with #1 solar provider SolarCity, Tesla will partner with local rebuilding efforts to help restore the parts of North Carolina affected by Hurricane Matthew. In exchange, Tesla and SolarCity will receive the excess energy back for free, which they can then turn around and sell at a profit rate of 9 cents per kilowatt. The result: Tesla and SolarCity gain a long-term source of profit, North Carolina is transformed into a powerhouse for sustainable energy, and thousands of people once again have a roof over their head.
