Rodeo Show Signs Uri Schutzer
Apr. 25, 2024
Rodeo Show announces the signing of award-winning director Uri Schutzer for commercial representation in the US market. A multidisciplinary creative whose output spans traditional broadcast spots, promos, music videos, and interactive experiences, Schutzer seamlessly blends classic cinema techniques with digital artistry. Working in the commercial space, he captures audiences with striking imagery, deft camerawork, and a touch of whimsy, as seen in commercials for global giants such as Caesarstone, Unilever, Mercedes, Mercari, Nestlé, and SodaStream, alongside a diverse array of fashion and cosmetic brands.
Roxanne Artesona, EP/Head of Sales, Rodeo Show remarked:
"Uri is an incredibly talented and multifaceted director. With his eye for design and cinema coupled with his knack for leveraging technology in creative ways, he effortlessly navigates brand storytelling, from live-action tabletop and fashion spots to experiential and interactive. He is collaborative, always prepared, and simply adored by his clients, making him a welcome addition to the Rodeo Show roster."
Schutzer added:
"Rodeo Show's broader perspective on the US market aligns perfectly with my vision, and they have a solid infrastructure for me to focus on what I do best. It's the perfect blend of friendship and professional growth, as I already have a strong camaraderie and collaboration with the Rodeo Show team and I couldn't be more excited for what lies ahead."
Named "One of the Six Most Prominent Commercial Directors" by Globes, Schutzer’s commercial directing credits include a heroic mixed-media spot for SodaStream featuring Laverne Cox, celebrating Pride Month; a visually striking and fashion-forward ad for auto brand Voyah; and a cinematic adventure following a young group to a summer concert series for Coca-Cola.
Not quick to label himself, Schutzer would rather put his work in a hexagon than a box, as evidenced by the SDG Experience for PwC, which combines VR with seamless 360-degree projection in a huge dome made from sustainable materials. He designed a game to educate and inspire people about the United Nations' sustainable development goals (SDGs). The experience immerses visitors in another world, making SDGs tangible and actionable. The UN embraced this project, and it was showcased at the Climate Summit.
His interactive music video for “Keep Your Head Up” by multi-platinum singer-songwriter Andy Grammer was one of the first interactive videos of its kind on YouTube. The choose-your-own-adventure experience won “Most Innovative Music Video” at MTV’s VMAs.
Further bridging his skills across film, art, and technology, Schutzer created an airport clock installation sponsored by car company SIXT. The installation featured an Olympic synchronized swimming team orchestrating the presentation of the hours, forming the numerical shapes achieved with a combination of in-camera practical effects and coding.
Also noteworthy in the digital space is his Abby Award–winning fashion app for Mast & Harbour. The cinematic experience, comprising 17 films, provided a series of journeys based on a shake of a digital dice roll on a phone.
From brands to agencies to celebrity talent, Schutzer has also built his career on lasting relationships, some spanning over a decade, including stars like Gal Gadot, with whom he has collaborated for over 10 years, and Sofia Carson, a client he has worked with since directing her first video, as well as her album launch campaign.
Schutzer concluded:
"I see myself as a creative businessman in the sense that I want to create success for my clients. It’s a strategic creative vision. That’s why I am drawn to technology and large-scale projects as much as I am to directing traditional spots."
