Nicolas Maldonado Joins Syn As LA-Based Creative Coordinator
Nov. 09, 2021
Syn is excited to welcome Nicolas Maldonado as Creative Coordinator. Maldonado was part of the .Movtogether mentorship program that originally matched the music and sound agency and mentee. Maldonado is part of Syn’s LA-based team, and collaborates closely with the international Syn teams in Tokyo, Beijing and London.
A former CalArts graduate with a Masters Degree in Composition and Performance, Nicolas Maldonado grew up surrounded by musical influence -- a father who plays Mariachi, and a big brother in a rock band. Via CalArts, he was introduced to .Movtogether, which was founded by members of the entertainment and advertising community in 2020 to provide exposure for people who might not have immediate access to an industry network and professional opportunities.
Maldonado notes:
“The experience with Syn through .Movtogether exceeded my expectations in so many ways, and I am grateful to the program for connecting us. To then become an official part of the Syn team is to be able to do what I love with an incredible team.”
During his .Movtogether mentorship program, Nicolas contributed to projects for broadcast promos, show opens and broadcast spots. His experience in musical improvisation proved a key asset in composing to picture, while his experience with remote collaboration and workflow enabled an effortless integration with Syn. His immediate focus is expanding Syn’s music library and representation with new artists.
Syn Co-Founder and Chief Creative Director Nick Wood comments:
“Nicolas is someone whose wild creativity lives beneath a warm and easygoing demeanor. He very naturally fit in with everyone here and when it came time for the mentorship to end, we knew we had to continue the collaboration.”
