MakeMake Added Editor Carlos Crooks to its Roster of Astounding Talent

MakeMake announces that it has added editor Carlos Crooks to its roster of astounding talent. Bringing his theatrical, cinematic sensibilities, Carlos' pursuit of heartfelt and emotive work aligns with the studio's guiding philosophy of Re-enchantment: the belief that stories, whether for a brand or a screen, should reconnect audiences to each other and be executed with meticulous care.

Hailing from Sacramento, Crooks began his post-production career as an intern at Paramount Pictures and Anonymous Content while studying at USC. He climbed his way up through working at many companies, eventually joining David & Goliath as a rostered editor. Throughout, Crooks developed a passion for the explorative process of editing.

Crooks said:

“Every project is different and has new challenges, but that’s what makes the job fun. It broadens your creative range and refines the process of navigating the "passaggio" of your craft. My ambitions always lie in pushing culture and the craft itself.”

Crooks’s narrative-driven instincts have made him a coveted collaborator with musicians looking for the refined story beats and raw feelings characteristic of his edits. His music video work includes projects with artists like Lizzo, Alicia Keys, Black Violin, Dave B, and Povoa’s “Beat Bunny,” directed by Tanner K Williams of Magna Studio and choreographed by Robbie Blue, which won many awards, including a Gold for Best Music Video at the 2026 British Arrows and 1.4 Awards, Best Music Video at the Berlin Music Video Awards, and a Silver for Music Video of the Year at shots Creative.

His commercial work encompasses attention-grabbing spots for brands like Google, Netflix, Lululemon, Kia, Lexus, Adidas, Gymshark, Brooks, and JBL, as well as the branded Xbox documentary “Arcadia.” Crooks’s film work spans the experimental short “Sticky” and thoughtful docu-shorts like “Raw Materials: A Great Love,” which profiled British equine sculptor Charlie Langton and his obsessive dedication to his craft. The film was featured on NOWNESS, and took home several film festival awards. During the social awakening spawned by the lockdown and a culture-wide demand for justice, Crooks edited the moving short “Sorry, Breonna” directed by Luis Peña and written by Zack Browne, which screened at film festivals in the United States and around the world.

Crooks on signing commented:

“MakeMake has been in my sights since I began my career. I’m a technical and creative polymath at heart, which is why working at a shop with all disciplines under one roof is monumental to my growth as not only an editor, but a creative. There are a lot of areas that I can reach my hand into to contribute, create, and learn. My hypothetical toolbox will continue to evolve and be refined at MakeMake, and I’m beyond proud to join a talented and collaborative group of people.”

Eve Kornblum, President of MakeMake, added:

“Carlos is an artist who wants to reach across disciplines; he’s exactly the kind of collaborator MakeMake’s unified creative studio was built for. We look forward to supporting all his next moves and broadening his creative horizons.”
