Gerety Awards Presents: Gerety Talks Advertising Photography
Jul. 10, 2026
Photography doesn’t just document ideas — it shapes how they are felt.
This special edition of Gerety Talks brings together three distinct voices in contemporary image-making to explore photography’s evolving role in creativity. From raw, observational storytelling to crafted visual worlds and idea-led execution, the conversation will look at how photography continues to define the emotional impact of creative work.
Karima Asaad, Patrice de Villiers and Lisa Carletta each approach the medium from different angles — spanning art, advertising and cultural storytelling — but share a focus on creating images that connect on a deeper, more human level. Their work challenges polish plays with perception, and pushes beyond aesthetics to build meaning, tension and truth.
Together, they will discuss how photography influences the way ideas are developed and experienced today, the role of craft in an increasingly fast-moving landscape, and how visual storytelling can move from simply being seen to being felt.
