BAFTA Appoints We Are Social Studios as the Production Company for its 2024 Film and Television Awards
Apr. 10, 2024
We Are Social Studios, the social-first production specialist division of We Are Social, is working with the leading arts charity and academy for the screen industries, BAFTA, on the official social coverage of their high-profile BAFTA Film Awards and BAFTA Television Awards with P&O Cruises.
We Are Social Studios has been tasked with creating platform-authentic content that attracts and entertains new and diverse audiences across various BAFTA social and digital touch points. BAFTA is looking to grow audiences and increase views on YouTube, Facebook, Instagram, X and TikTok.
We Are Social Studios’ scope covers creative ideation, production and post production management, as well as selecting specialised social-first directors, videographers and photographers through its production partner Amity Studios.
We Are Social Studios began working with BAFTA at the EE BAFTA Film Awards in February 2024, having won a competitive pitch to capture entertaining red carpet interviews and its heart-warming ‘Winners Run’ backstage, delivering on their marketing theme for this year’s campaign “telling stories makes us human”.

As part of this, We Are Social Studios and Amity Studios delivered a unique creative concept called the ‘golden telephone’ - inspired by a phone-booth. Award winners and presenters were invited to make a call to their fans or loved ones to celebrate the night and what BAFTA means to them, resulting in diverse personal perspectives from some of the biggest stars of today. The Film Awards [Sunday 18 February] content resulted in BAFTA trending on the night, attracting more than 32 million views across social channels and over 1.6 million engagements.
We Are Social Studios will also work with BAFTA to produce social content for its upcoming BAFTA Television Awards with P&O Cruises on 12th May 2024.
Dan Keefe, UK Head of We Are Social Studios, said:
"This is a great opportunity for us to show how creative, social-first production can make an impact. The platform-authentic content we created for the Film Awards has made a huge impact on BAFTA’s channels so far, and we’re looking for the opportunity to boost this further in May for the BAFTA Television Awards.”
Paul MacMahon, Head of Digital Content at BAFTA said:
“Our awards are our highest profile public facing events, entertaining and inspiring millions of film fans and aspiring creatives around the world. In order to make an impact on social media, we knew we had to look for content that was created in a bespoke way for each platform. We Are Social Studios know social production inside out and helped deliver us fantastic engagement across the board following this year’s BAFTA Film Awards, and we have exciting plans in the works for the BAFTA Television Awards with P&O Cruises next month.”
Brooke Lagana, Creative Producer, We Are Social Studios, said:
“Ideating an original concept for the activation component was a refreshing challenge. The mechanism in which we captured these moments needed to be modular, straightforward and time efficient enough for people to tell their story and celebrate their win. The golden telephone was a really fun, non-invasive concept that enabled us to deliver on branding, theme and engagement.”
