An alarming number of traffic accidents are linked to the use of mobile devices. Texting and driving caused an estimated 1.5 million automobile accidents in the U.S. in 2018, according to the National Safety Council. Together with our client, Sprint, an American telecommunications company that provides wireless service, we thought it was fitting to create awareness of the dangers of texting and driving. Especially in places like Florida, with high rates of accidents caused by distracted drivers, and also where texting and driving is prohibited. However, it is enforced as a “secondary” offense, in comparison with other states where it is a “primary” offense. That means motorists can only be cited if they are stopped for other infractions, such as running a stop sign or speeding.
